Position patches

The Museum is named in honor of a volunteer, not only for his Leadership and Service that he has shown all over Scouting. In 1996, he and then Lodge Chief Brad Goodwin saw a building that had been unused for 20 years and saw a future purpose of the building. Turning an old pumphouse into a Museum of Scouting in Middle Tennessee. It may have taken 24 years, but with his dedication and tenacity the Museum became a reality.
He has spent many years in many different leadership roles all over Scouting. One gift he was given by the embodiment of patience, his wife Diane, was a framed set of all the Leadership position patches he had ever worn in Scouting. Beginning with the leadership positions of that he had in his Troop as a Youth. Unit position such as Scoutmaster (one of his favorites) and Crew Committee Chair for two units that he helped start. Following the District and council level positions including Lodge Adviser and Council Executive Board where he helps started the Idea of the Museum. Then the national level positions including National Committee member, to National Executive Board.
Lodge Flap

In 2009, He was chosen to become the Chair of the national Order of the Arrow committee. When this was announced the youth of the Wa-Hi-Nasa lodge decided to honor his leadership with a lodge flap. The youth asked him what kind of Flap he would like, and he chose a design very similar to the Flap that his Son chose as National Chief in 2004. In this frame is the artwork for the flap on top with an actual flap underneath the artwork. This frame was displayed in his office for many years next to similar frames of the Wa-Hi-Nasa 2004 National Chief flap and the 1995 Wa-Hi-Nasa 111 Flap.
OA National Committee patches

Serving as the Chairman of the national Order of the Arrow Committee from 2009 until the Order’s 100th anniversary in 2015. A parting gift to Him was the framed set of all the national OA committee patches that were issued while he was the chair. Several of the Committee members not only signed the back of this frame but many added messages of thanks and well wishing.
He was not only given the opportunity to serve as the Chairman of the national Order of the Arrow Committee but also served as the chair of the National BSA Alumni committee and the National Court of Honor.
