In the 1970’s Boxwell had “Caution Camp Open” signs on both sides of Hwy 109. The story of this sign is that while on both sides, all of the photographs of these signs are of the sign that is coming from interstate I-40, with the words “Next Left.” This sign is the one that would have been on Hwy 109 coming from Gallatin, TN with the “Next Right” direction. Each sign has a hanging metal plate that can be rotated up to cover the “Caution Camp Open.” This sign was also thought to be lost to history and then one day it appeared in the Museum as a donation.
